YOUR HOME MEDICATION EMERGENCY KIT
Every home should have the necessities readily-available in their medicine cabinet to turn to in emergencies.
Here’s 5 things you should have in yours:
  • Your preferred painkiller – for mild to moderate pain relief, take your pick of the 3 leading over-the-counter painkillers, ie: Aspirin (e.g. Disprin), Paracetamol (e.g. Panado) and Ibuprofen (e.g. Nurofen)
  • A child-friendly painkiller – For pain relief in children, stock children’s Paracetamol (Calpol or Panado syrup) or Ibuprofen (Nurofen) suspensions.
  • Antacid – This provides relief from heartburn (e.g. Tums or Enos)
  • Anti-nausea medication – To prevent vomiting and nausea. Known brands include Valoid or Emex. You might want to include a medication for stomach cramps, like Buscopan.
  • Antihistamine tablets – For hayfever, allergies and hives. Brands include Deselex and Allergex.
